PC or I-MAC ?

I use a Wacom Tablet
can you tell me where to stick the right button on my pen? and if there is a solution how ergonomic would it be?
My point being that to progress to professional creative products such as pen & Tablet right click conditioning is a hinderance!

Clockspeed is only one factor. My 450MHz G4 is almost as fast as my 750MHz Athlon. (I wish I had one of the new 700+MHz G4 systems... *drool*)

At least no one's mentioned OS/2 yet. Technically superior to Windoze and probably on par with the Mac OS of the time (early 90s ?)

And although Windows 2000 indicates a very high version revision (!), it's good to see that the Mac is on it's 10th incarnation of an OS which was infamously derived from a Xerox photocopier and possibly even responsible for inspiring one Bill Gates to take over the world. Kinda means the first few weren't perfect huh guys?
Have to say though, 1988, the Mac IIcx kicked PC butt with it's 32bit colour and ability to record custom error messages. Shame it's 2001 now and open standards and cheap prices have driven the PC far beyond 'somewhere for a housewife to keep her recipes' and the phrase 'when would you ever need more than 640K' seems laughably naive.
In ten years time I'm sure the PC will still be around in some form or other. And no doubt ppl will still slag it off for being popular, whatever OS it runs.

Well system X is coming out in a few months anyways so 9 doesn't really matter any more. In 10 even if one of your programs crash/freeze the rest of your computer will still be operational. By the way Mac's Motorolla processors have a faster clock speed that Intel's just to tell whoever was saying that PCs are faster.

Im not doing too bad at the minute as i have a self-built PC with a Dual Motherboard running two 800mhz chips that have been overclocked to 950mhz... It is fast as fuck and i have a 75gig HD, but after all that, I am still kinda attracted to a mac! I dont know why but i am... anyone else have that feeling!?

Personally I'm far more attracted to a Steenback than an iMac. All those industrial, functional contour lines...

PC+ upgrades easily from small outlay

PC+ Don't need to use Windows

AMIGA+ Cheap, versatile
AMIGA- Dead (sorry shirt, I miss em too)

I hope we can all come to the same conclusion. Be it IBM compatible or IMac, they're all PCs. If they do what you want them to do, who gives a flying malarkey?

I gave up reading half way down but thought I'd add my two-penny's worth.

I'm a PC user, I have been for a long time, I support them as a job. I like my PC but it's far from perfect. Windows ME includes Windows Movie Maker for free, although I'm finding ME a touch unstable (a Microsoft product unstable, never). I used Win 2000 until recently and it's bomb-proof. I'm thinking of switching back but I'm waiting to see how Movie Maker deals with some footage I shot. PC's are better as an all purpose machine.

On the other hand, whilst Mac's aren't unshakeable (I had to play about with il postino's recently to get it working on this page) they are more stable. They're also specifically designed for graphics and multimedia. I've seen what a friend did with a G4 for his animation degree and he did things that a PC would shudder and (under protest) eventually produce and this thing took it without even blinking.

Il postino is the one you really want to talk to, he edited a coporate video using an ibook and imovie. Quite sucessfully by all accounts.

I've just had to shell out some more money to allow me to import video and have enough disk space.

My advice: if all you want to do is edit, buy a Mac, if you want to use it for other things, PC all the way.

PS - Am I right in thninking the Avid machines are basically a heavily converted Mac?
